A new battle, a new name: Why Media Monitoring Africa is becoming Moxii Africa
The threats to dignity, equality, and democracy aren’t new — but their scale is. Social media and AI have supercharged disinformation, polarisation, hate, and unaccountable power, while journalism and public trust are in crisis. Fewer journalists, louder lies, and declining democratic institutions make it harder than ever to access reliable information.
Yet amid this, the need for credible, inclusive, and empowering media has never been greater.
That’s why Media Monitoring Africa has evolved.
We are now Moxii Africa — a new name that reflects our bold vision and unwavering purpose. More than monitoring, we use tech, litigation, and public empowerment to actively shape a just information ecosystem. Our name is derived from moxie — the courage and innovation needed to defend truth in the digital age.
Our mission is clear
To build an accessible, accountable, and transparent information ecosystem we can trust.
We do this by focusing on:
- Accountability – Holding power to account.
- Information Integrity – Championing credible, diverse media.
- Public Empowerment – Equipping people to navigate the flood of information.
- Safety – Ensuring safe, inclusive spaces for free expression.
The fight for truth is the defining struggle of our time. With a new identity and a renewed mission, Moxii Africa stands ready to meet this moment — and give the world a more human face.
