Become a volunteer

Volunteering with Moxii Africa means joining a team that monitors the stories shaping South Africa — and helping ensure those stories are told fairly, accurately, and in the public interest.

Moxii Africa does work that matters — monitoring media, defending journalism, and helping communities navigate the information age.

Whether you're a student, researcher, journalist or simply someone who cares about truth and accountability, there's a role for you here. We're looking for curious, committed people ready to put their skills toward something that genuinely makes a difference.

How can you help

Media monitoring
Help track how important issues are covered across South African media. Volunteers review news stories, identify patterns, and flag coverage that raises editorial or ethical concerns. A critical eye and an interest in current affairs are all you need.
Research and analysis
Our reports on media coverage of children, elections, gender and climate change are built on solid data. Research volunteers assist with content analysis, data capture and report compilation. Attention to detail and a methodical approach go a long way.
Outreach and communications
Help us reach wider audiences. Volunteer communicators assist with writing, translating, event coordination and social media — making sure our work and campaigns get to the communities that need them most.
