Real411 has been designated by the IEC as the platform for reporting election disinformation. Independence is the heart of that role — so here is exactly how the platform works, and who decides.

The IEC's designation

The IEC has designated Real411 as an independent platform through which complaints about digital disinformation are filtered and addressed — quickly and transparently. Final regulatory authority sits where it always has: the IEC decides any referral to the Electoral Court.

Who reviews a complaint

Every complaint is assessed by three independent reviewers. Their assessment then goes to an experienced lawyer, who determines the outcome. Decisions are made by this independent, qualified panel — and by no one else.

On funding and influence

Real411's funders are a matter of public record — published, not hidden. More importantly, the system is built so that funding cannot touch outcomes: no donor has any say in reviews or outcomes, or even has access to the backend. No member of Moxii Africa can determine the outcome of a complaint. And no donor has any say over the content of the training, or the mechanisms of the system.

If you disagree

Every outcome is published, and every outcome can be appealed through a formal appeal mechanism. A documented process, with a public record and a route to challenge it.

Why this design matters

Elections depend on trust — and trust is built by showing the machinery, not asking for it blindly. Every Real411 report follows the same public path: independent review, a lawyer's determination, a published outcome, and an open appeal. That is what an accountable reporting channel looks like, report by report, on the record.
